Wrapping Paper - Final Design

During the producer of designing patterns, we came across a design that we both liked, and played around with it for a while. Making it look presentable to the public, we even tweaked it into places to get the thing right. The idea of choosing black and white for our wrapping paper, it may look simple but in fact it eye catching due to the black images standing out on the white background.

Here is the our final idea and pattern. Done and Dusted!

Wrapping Paper Design

After finishing the Cereal brief, we then need to do a finally project for this semester, which is to create a a design for a wrapping paper: The brief is to design a based pattern targeted at small retailers who only want small quantities of paper, like gift shops and florists.
The whole idea it make a wrapping paper with minimum of two colours, water based inks, howe
ver not gold or silver due to the cost of the materials. It has to look simple but professional to the audience. The material is 25gms paper on a roll- appro
ximately 60cm width and it has to be a repeatable pattern.

Again, with the help of Jak as a partner in the group of two, agreed that this briefs looks very interesting and funny to do, and come up with some idea onto paper then looking into existing wrapping papers, to see what other designer has created and what type of paper they printed the patterns on, as this will gives us ideas, then onto the computer to play around with
photoshops, to create an interesting and different sort of patterns, as this is the easy way to understand the meaning of pattern and it quick and easy to find information and inspiration.

We looked at anything that does with wallpaper patterns as they are the closest thing to pattern in the industries: the things that we looked are building, clothes animals, wrapping paper etc. We also looked at a artist who is famous for wallpaper patterns and that person is William Morris. There was also another person M.C.Escher. We also done research by looking at website with wallpaper/patterns.

After doing the research, we had a good understanding of what kind of thing, we are aiming for. The next thing is to load up Photoshop and start playing around with the pattern tool and get some ideas onto screen. We came up with 4-5 examples of the various designs but then after some experimentation we were able to develop something we both like.

Designing A Cereal Box

When the christmas was finished and dusted, Our tutor gave us another new brief, which was to design a new cereal box aimed at children and teenagers. As now a day children and the teenagers doesn't eat very healthy food like take away, crisps, chocolate etc, and we want to make this product a healthy and enjoyable breakfast for all. So the ideas is to create a package that looks suitable to both children and teenagers and we also want the colour of the package to look bright and colourful. The flavors of the cereal would be tasty and healthy, tasty enough so that the children would eat it. In theory, a lot of children wants to eat breakfast especially teenagers but due to getting up late for school can make them miss breakfast in the morning as 'Breakfast is the most important of the day.' So after discussing about the ideas for the cereal box, Jak and I teamed up again, but this time we have a new member joine Robbie d by the teamMalloy. Once the design and ideas was planned out onto paper, we set off doing researching of the existing cereal packaging, like looking at colour, theme and mainly which audience this product is aimed at......we also talked to people and children what they favorite thing about cereal is and nearly 60% said it easy and simple to make, and it keep you full till lunchtime. The ideas that we came up with basing on theory, that most youth's love the sound of music, we wanted the children and the teenagers to enjoy their breakfast with music playing in the background. So we decided to incorporate music into our designs, design that have not yet been designed or seen in any stores, we came up with the idea of have the cereal looking and shaping like a stereo player, and inside would contain a free CD. There was other ideas toward this product, but we found that this was the best design out of them all, plus with a built in mp3 player so that they can eat and enjoy they breakfast. The type of music would be something up beat and in the charts, therefore it's will help you get your brain working in the morning. This is also a good way to help the audience to keep up to date music, this also means a band can promote itself making money for the cereal company.
